Race Instructions

Near the Race Finish, 2013 - Montana Stars

Thank you for participating in the 37th Annual Montana Women's Run Event. The Montana Women's Run event consists of a 5 mile and 2 mile course. Participants can walk, run, or even wheelchair either distance. Children in strollers do not need to be registered unless you'd like a t-shirt for your child. Bikes, Rollerblades, skateboards, pets, smoking and headphones will not be permitted on the course.

You MUST pre-register and pick up t-shirt and packet by 6:00pm, Friday, May 11. (Out of town, pre-registered entrants only, may pick up t-shirts and packets Race Day 7:00 am - 8:30 am.)

Changing distances after April 25, 2018 is strongly discouraged. All changes after April 25, 2018 will have to be done at Headquarters the week before the race and there will be a $5.00 change fee.

Packet Pickup

All participants must pick up their t- shirt and race number at Race Headquarters. If you are unable to pick up for yourself, you may have someone else pick up your materials for you.

Deadlines

  • Guaranteed T-Shirt Deadline - 11:59pm, April 25, 2018
    All paid entries will receive a t-shirt. Registrations postmarked by April 25, 2018 are guaranteed an official Montana Women's Run t-shirt before Race Day. Registrations postmarked after April 25, 2018 may receive a t-shirt before race day subject to availability. No guarantee of size or color.
  • Online registration closes - 2:00pm, Friday, May 11, 2018
  • Online Registration cost increases by $5.00 May 9-May 11
  • Walk-in registration closes - 6:00pm, Friday, May 11, 2018
  • Team Up teams and team participants must enter online by Wednesday, April 25, 2018
  • Pasta Night reservations must be received by 6:00pm, Wednesday, May 9, 2018

Start Instructions

Both Races start on 2nd Avenue North between North 25th Street and North 24th Street. In order to have a safer race, and to facilitate ease of running, please observe the following information.

  5 Mile Course
  • Fastest runners will line up at the front.
  • Strollers, children and walkers cannot start at the front.
  • All those pushing strollers or wheelchairs will line up at the very back in the designated area.
  • Everyone will enter the Start area from the back.
  • Sidewalks will be fenced off from the street.

Cutoff for slow 5 Mile walkers

All participants who have not reached Division Street and 3rd Avenue North by 9:10 am will be turned down Division St. on the sidewalk to 2nd Ave. N. to continue to the Finish Line and will not receive an official finish time.

  2 Mile Course

The 2 Mile Course will be divided into two corrals

  • Corral #1 is reserved for those finishing the race in 20 minutes or less.
  • All others line up in Corral #2, west of N. 25th Street.
  • 2-Milers must stay on the sidewalks or side streets until all 5 Milers have passed.
  • All participants must enter the Start area from the back.
  • Sidewalks will be fenced off from the street.
  • All those pushing strollers or wheelchairs will line up at the very back in the designated area.

Chip Instructions

The timing chip will be attached to the back of your bib number. Please DO NOT remove the timing chip from the bib. Without the chip you will not get a finish time. The chip is disposable so you do not have to return it after you finish. When you cross the starting line and the finish line make sure that your bib number is pinned to the FRONT of whatever you will be wearing at the Finish Line. Do not carry anyone else’s bib number or a bib number for a different distance during the race.

Finish Instructions

Once you have crossed the Finish Line continue on through the Finish Area. Please keep moving on through the Finish Area until you are given your flower from Gainan’s and a commemorative finishers necklace; then quickly move away from the Finish Area and proceed to Skypoint for refreshments and awards. You will not be allowed to stand in the fenced-off Finish Area. Plan to meet your friends outside the fenced-off Finish Area (for example, on the sidewalk in front of your favorite store). Water is located across from the Babcock Theater.
